Update on Datatel to SQL and Windows
There is a tool to convert data from unidata to SQL which costs $60K from Ellucian.
2. Migrating data off old servers
Data has been archived from old server (75 servers). A few directories are causing issues with permissions. LRC server had issues with power outage but is up minimally now.
For end-users, drives will need to be repointed to the new server. IT will need to be at your machine to do this. Speed should also be faster. The library is transferring first, and the rest will follow over the next few months. The new virtual server is backed up to the SAN.
3. Update on the website transfer to Evoq
Transfer to Evoq is going smoothly. Trainings are occurring. Need more information about the readiness to transfer for all sites. All computers ON Campus will resolve to new evoq site. Off campus computers will go to old site. Off campus will switch to new site by the end of the week. Focus will then be on resolving errors, broken links, etc.
Old platform will be renamed to archive.redwoods.edu. Will check on search functionality with archive.redwoods.edu. Still need some sites to appear in search, but not ones redone in evoq.
4. Math Lab computer needs, including the "geek" room
IT has been devoting a large amount of time to support the math department. We currently have enough hardware to replace the geek room computers, but not with iMacs.
Have two mobile carts with mac laptops, but they are aging.
We will invite the math department to the next TPC.
5. Implementing e-mail retention policy AP 3310
http://www.redwoods.edu/District/Board/New/Chapter3/documents/AP3310RecordRetentionandDestruction.pdf
This policy can’t be implemented because of 5.3.3. The committee recommends striking 5.3.3 and 5.3.2. The last sentence of 5.3 would read:
All emails and attachments remaining on email servers longer than twenty-four (24) months will be deleted.
Angelina will take this recommendation to college council.
Jose will send an e-mail reminder in April or May. Could be announced in Mark Winter’s weekly message, on instructional council, SDLG, etc. We’ll prepare for purging in June, but don’t want to purge in June.
