Technology Planning Committee

Purpose

The Technology Planning Committee (TPC) supports the District's mission by providing, monitoring, and updating the Technology Plan, and by prioritizing technology funding requests from the Program Review Committee to be forwarded to the Budget Planning Committee. The TPC provides a central review function, so that technology actions are viewed in totality and across the District, ensuring that priorities and Student success factors are considered. These actions in total support the Educational Master Plan and Strategic Plan.

Committee History

In 2013-2014, the technology planning committee, along with the Facilities Planning Committee, became subcomittees of the Budget Planning Committee.

Typical Tasks

The Technology Planning Committee (TPC) supports the District's mission by providing, monitoring, and updating the Technology Plan, and by prioritizing technology funding requests from the Program Review Committee to be forwarded to the Budget Planning Committee. The TPC provides a central review function, so that technology actions are viewed in totality and across the District, ensuring that priorities and Student success factors are considered. These actions in total support the Educational Master Plan and Strategic Plan.

During the 2012-2013 year, the committee use a refined prioritization review processes, evaluating only items above $5000. The committee will monitor the Technology Plan to identify items that have been completed, are a work in progress, or have been approved for funding. The TPC communicates back to constituent groups on its recommendations for all funding requests. The committee reviews the results of its actions annually to "close the loop" on all its activities. The committee maintains an active web site with meeting notes, attachments, etc. The committee annually reviews and updates objectives of the Operating Agreement and Objectives statements.

Committee Membership Terms of Service

The TPC includes a cross sectional representation of employee groups as well as student representation. The Committee is led by two Co-Chairs— the Director of Technology Services and an Academic Senate appointee, or by their designees. Technology Planning Committee memberships of faculty, staff and students are made in two-year alternating appointments to provide continuity and ongoing history for the Committee.
