Retest & recency policy update from Kelly
The following ideas emerged from discussion about a retake policy:
Kelly is working to get a finalized policy on the website. The policy has been discussed at the English & Math departments. The intent is to see if it works, and re-evaluate if it appears that students need to re-take more than once.
2) Progress on non-cognitive questions (Paul Chown)
Paul presented a spreadsheet showing 300 students who have taken the accuplacer and responded to the non-cognitive questions since March. The data will be analyzed to look for average response patterns. It might be informative to see areas where students rate low, and also to correlate responses to what courses they take and their success.
3) Update on implementation at Del Norte (Tina Vaughn)
Tina Vaughn visited Del Norte with Counselors. They spoke about M-MAP, and it was well received. Counselors at advisors are in the learning stages. They are using webapps to look for M-MAP placements. It’s unclear how many students are receiving MMAP placements.
Coding: Use CP is M-MAP is higher, MM if using transcripts, accuplacer is automatic.
4) Update on presenting placement to student
Students are given one placement after they test and
