Instructional Council

Purpose

Leaders of Instruction and Student Development coordinate programs, activities, policies, near-and mid-term plans across instructional and student development areas, including an extension of topics covered in the integrated planning committee.

Committee History

The Instructional Council, originally called Dean's Council, was founded in 2009-10 with membership including two division deans, and the director of Health Occupations. At this time, a broad-based loosely formed group was also formed to offer a forum for faculty and leadership to communicate; this was called an instructional council at that time.   With the recent reorganization of our structure, the Dean's Council was reformed with the title of Instructional Council and broadened to include Directors of Instructional programs, as well as deans and the vice-president.

Typical Tasks

Functions and activities include schedule development, curriculum, enrollment management, prioritization of divisional resource requests, accredition, assessment, program review, distance education and staff development.
