Life Safety Committee
Purpose
In support of the College’s Mission, in compliance with Federal and State Laws, and to promote continuous adherence to Accreditation Standards, the Life Safety Committee leads the District in assuring that its policies and plans promote healthy and safe District facilities and premises and reduce unsafe practices. The Committee stays informed on changes to life safety related laws, regulations, and best practices, it evaluates accident/hazard reports, and it reviews prevention actions and drills. Life Safety Committee members communicate with the larger campus community on best practices. The Committee promotes safe workplaces, premises, and practices across the District and makes appropriate recommendations to the President/Superintendent to reasonably mitigate hazards. The committee discusses emergency procedures, safety issues and solutions, and completes trainings, such as tabletop exercises, Active Shooter Preparedness, and Evacuations, to ensure the protection of all persons and property.
